Product Contact Point for Construction

Product Contact Points for Construction provide information, using transparent and easily understandable terms, on the provisions within its territory aimed at fulfilling basic requirements for construction works applicable for the intended use of each construction product.

Regulation No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC (hereinafter referred to as Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 or Construction Products Directive) takes effect on the 1 July of 2013. This directly applicable EU legal act lays down conditions for the placing or making available on the market of construction products by establishing harmonised rules on how to express the performance of construction products in relation to their essential characteristics and on the use of CE marking on these products.

Under Article 10.1 of the Regulation (EU) No 205/2011, Member States designate Product Contact Points for Construction pursuant to Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No 764/2008 laying down procedures relating to the application of certain national technical rules to products lawfully marketed in another Member State and repealing Decision No 3052/95/EB.

Public institutions

Several public institutions in the Republic of Lithuania have been authorized to establish basic requirements for construction works.

By Resolution No 82 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania dated 29 January 2010 ‘Regarding the amendment of Resolution No 1702 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania dated 1 December 2010 “”Regarding the approval of the Description of the Procedure for the Activities of the Service and Product Contact Point and Its Cooperation with Competent Institutions of the Republic of Lithuania”’, the functions of the Product Contact Point for Construction in the Republic of Lithuania were assigned to the Public Institution Versli Lietuva (Enterprise Lithuania).

In order to enable enterprises, and in particular SMEs, to find reliable and precise information about legal acts for construction in force in the Member State where they intend to place or make available on the market their construction products, it is important to ensure the accessibility of such information in a single place. This is an essential function of the Product Contact Point for Construction.

For information provided by the Public Institution Versli Lietuva (Enterprise Lithuania) in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 in performing the functions of the Product Contact Point for Construction.
